What Does "Turn to Flesh" Mean?
At its heart, "Turn to Flesh" explores the very nature of theatre: incarnating language in action.
As Catholic Worker founder and activist Dorothy Day once said, “The greatest challenge of the day is: how to bring about a revolution of the heart, a revolution which has to start with each one of us?” Indeed, the phrase “turn to flesh” also reveals our desire that our audiences leave our theatre with a greater sense of shared humanity and are in fact stirred back to life.

Why Do You Focus on "Classical Style?"
We agree with T. S. Eliot, that: "No poet, no artist of any art, has his complete meaning alone…. [An artist must be] conscious, not of what is dead, but of what is already living." (Tradition and the Individual Talent, 1921) TTF embraces and harnesses the strengths of our global classical inheritance, not just by writing new tales, but also by invoking the spirits of old myths to illuminate our present-day realities.
Heightened language and verse plays invite both artists and audiences to consider life’s fundamental questions on a higher level, engaging minds and hearts simultaneously. By attuning our ears to new sounds, we can also hear old ideas in a new fashion.

What Sort of Plays are You Looking For?
TTF is interested in plays that embrace our motto: "Modern Themes. Classical Styles." We are particularly interested in plays with one or more of the following qualities:
- Intelligent exploration of classical styles, especially verse (our signature style)
- Vibrant and numerous roles for womxn and those underrepresented in classical art
- Exploration of modern themes, with an eye towards the eternal
- Embodiment of the Good, the True, and the Beautiful
When Do You Accept Play Submissions?
At this time, TTF has a full slate for our upcoming season. However, we will be looking to work with playwrights on our second Beyond the Ingenue project, performing at the Kraine Theater in NYC in July 2020. If you would like to be considered, please send an email to Chris Rivera at ttfassociateartisticdirector@gmail.com with your CV and cover letter.
All artists are also encouraged to attend any of our events and introduce themselves. Our Monthly MUSE program, also run by Chris Rivera, is a great way to show off your talents in a celebratory environment.

Will You Accept Plays by Men?
Yes. While we are especially committed to developing works by womxn, we believe that any play that embodies our mission to provide vibrant and plentiful roles for the true diversity of artists can serve as a vital asset to TTF. Any person who shares our vision for a world in which all people are valued and respected, both onstage and off, is welcomed by our community.
Do You Produce Religious Plays?
TTF is open to both religious and non-religious plays, although we rarely produce work which explicitly dogmatic. We are interested in any play that explores our mission. Due to our commitment to the dignity of the human person, we will not accept plays which are hateful towards any group of people.
Do You Produce Musicals?
At this time, we do not produce musicals. As we grow, we hope to add musicals, operas, and other forms of performance.
